The city of Seward rests between the base of Mt. Marathon and Resurrection Bay. It is a charming little town that serves as one of Alaska's most important fishing and cargo ports. It also is the gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park, home to the most majestic glaciers in Alaska.
One of Seward's main attractions is the Resurrection Bay boat cruise tours. Offered as both half-day and full-day excursions, they take you to view the spectacular Kenai Fjords glaciers and the rich wildlife population of the Bay.
On your cruise, you'll get to watch Stellar sea lions basking on the rocks. Puffins and eagles nest in the cliffs that line the Bay. And otters scamper and play in the cold waters.
But by far the most majestic creatures that inhabit Resurrection Bay are the whales. Both orca and humpback whales swim through these waters and if you're lucky, you'll catch them on camera when they surface.
